SliceStay is Coming: Hourly Hotel Booking is About to Change the Way India Travels

Something new is coming to the way India books hotels.

We are not ready to say everything just yet. But we are close enough that it felt right to finally put this out there and let people know what SliceStay is about and what we are building.

The short version is this. We are building a hotel booking platform where you only pay for the hours you actually use. No full night rates. No wasted money. Just a clean comfortable hotel room for 3 hours, 6 hours, or 12 hours, booked instantly, confirmed immediately, and priced fairly.

We are launching soon. And if this sounds like something you have been waiting for, you are not alone.

The Problem We Are Solving

Think about the last time you were stuck somewhere between a check out and a departure.

Your flight is at 11 PM. Hotel check out was at 11 AM. You have twelve hours to kill in a city with nowhere comfortable to sit, work, or sleep. You either overpay for an extra night you mostly do not use or you spend the day hauling your bags around cafes and airport lounges.

Or maybe you are a business traveler who flies into a city for a single day of meetings. You do not need a hotel for the night. You need a room for 4 hours between your morning call and your evening flight. But every booking platform in India assumes you need 24 hours minimum.

Or you are on a layover. A long one. Six hours at an airport with hard plastic chairs and overpriced coffee while a perfectly good hotel room sits three kilometres away that you could have booked for a fraction of what a full night costs.

These situations happen to millions of people across India every single day. And right now there is no clean simple solution built specifically for them.

That is the gap SliceStay is stepping into.

What SliceStay Will Offer

We are keeping things simple. Three slots. One straightforward booking process. Instant confirmation.

3 Hours

The quick option. A layover at the airport, a freshen up before an important meeting, a couple of private hours for a couple, a power nap between back to back commitments. Three hours gives you a proper AC room, a clean bathroom, WiFi, and room service at most properties. At a price that actually makes sense for three hours of use.

6 Hours

The sweet spot. Half a day of proper comfort. Enough time to sleep, shower, eat, work, and leave feeling like yourself again. This is the slot that business travelers, transit passengers, and remote workers tend to reach for first. Six hours is enough. More than enough most of the time.

12 Hours

A full day without a full night price. You get everything a regular hotel stay would give you and you skip the overnight hours you were never going to use. For outstation professionals spending the day in a city, for couples who want a relaxed unhurried stay, for anyone doing back to back work in a place they are not sleeping in, this is the slot.

Who SliceStay is Being Built For

We thought about this a lot during the building phase. Who actually needs this?

Business travelers are the most obvious answer. India has tens of millions of business trips happening every year. A huge number of those travelers do not need a full overnight room. They need somewhere to work, rest, and freshen up before they fly home. The current hotel booking system was not designed with them in mind. SliceStay is.

Transit passengers and layover travelers are the second big group. India's major airports handle enormous passenger volumes. Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad. Hundreds of thousands of people pass through these airports with layovers long enough that sitting at the terminal feels wasteful but short enough that a full hotel booking feels excessive. SliceStay is the answer to that exact problem.

Couples in Indian cities deal with a real privacy problem. Affordable private space is genuinely hard to find. SliceStay will list verified couple friendly hotels where guests are welcomed without judgment. A clean room, a few private hours, and no unnecessary questions at the front desk.

Remote workers and freelancers are a growing group who need this. Home is too noisy. A cafe is too public. A coworking space is a subscription. Booking a hotel room for 3 or 6 hours gives you a proper desk, fast WiFi, AC, and peace. More productive than a coffee shop and cheaper than a full hotel stay.

Families on transit with tired kids and checked out bags know exactly what kind of afternoon this solves. A proper room, real beds, and a bathroom that is not shared with half an airport terminal.

Why Now

Hourly hotel booking is not a new concept globally. It is common in parts of Southeast Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Platforms like Dayuse and Byhours have been running in international markets for years.

India has been slower to adopt it for a few reasons. Hotel operators have traditionally been reluctant to reconfigure their booking systems for shorter durations. There has not been a platform making it genuinely easy for both hotels and guests. And awareness among travelers that this option could even exist has been low.

All of that is changing.

Post-pandemic travel patterns in India look different. More people are working remotely and traveling more flexibly. Domestic business travel has bounced back strongly. Younger travelers in particular are looking for smarter ways to manage trip costs. The infrastructure for instant digital payments via UPI makes the booking experience smoother than it has ever been.

The timing feels right. The demand is real. The technology is ready.

SliceStay is almost here.

Cities We Are Focused On at Launch

We are starting with the cities where the need is highest and the hotel supply is most suited to the model.

Mumbai tops the list. The density of business travel, the airport layover volume at CSIA, and the genuine demand for private affordable space in a city where apartments are small and privacy is expensive. Mumbai is a natural fit.

Delhi and NCR including Gurgaon and Noida are a priority. Indira Gandhi International Airport is one of the busiest in Asia. The business travel volume across the capital region is enormous. And the range of hotels suited to short stay bookings across different budgets is strong.

Bengaluru is another early focus. The tech industry runs on consultants, investor visits, and professionals flying in for the day. Short stay demand around Whitefield, Koramangala, and near Kempegowda Airport is consistent and growing.

Kolkata is on the list. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport handles significant transit traffic. The city's position as a gateway to the Northeast and to Bangladesh means layover demand is real. And the hotel supply across areas like Salt Lake, Park Street, and New Town is well suited to the model.

Hyderabad and Chennai are not far behind. Both cities have major airports, strong business travel bases, and growing awareness of flexible travel options among their working populations.

More cities will follow. The plan is to build depth in each market before expanding further rather than spreading thin across too many locations at once.

What to Expect from SliceStay

A few things we want to be clear about from the start.

No hidden charges. The price you see when you book is the price you pay. No surprise fees at checkout. No add-ons you did not ask for.

Real verified hotels. Every property on the platform will be checked before it goes live. Clean rooms, accurate photos, honest amenities. Guest reviews after every stay will keep the quality bar honest.

Couple friendly listings clearly marked. We know this matters. Properties that welcome couples without unnecessary questions will be clearly identified so guests can book with confidence.

A booking process that takes under two minutes. Select your city, pick your slot, choose your check in time, browse available hotels, pay via UPI or card, get instant confirmation. That is it.

Support when you need it. Things go wrong sometimes. When they do, we want to be reachable and actually helpful.

Stay Updated

We are in the final stages of getting everything ready. Hotels are being onboarded. The platform is being tested. The launch is close.

If you want to be among the first to know when we go live, head over to SliceStay and keep an eye on updates there. We will be sharing more details about the launch, the cities we are starting in, and the hotels that will be available from day one.

We are building this for travelers who are tired of paying for hours they do not use. If that is you, SliceStay is being built for you.
